Spring Planting Day 2013
The Spring Planting Day on September 29th 2013 was a huge success with almost 400 native trees and shrubs planted in the Wallum Woodland zone. Only a few zones to go and the Mangroves to Mountains precinct will be complete! Some of the trees planted on the day include Banksia aemula (wallum banksia), Allocasuarina littoralis (black she-oak), Callitris columellaris (Bribie Island pine) and Eucalyptus robusta (swamp mahogany). Many of the trees and shrubs that grow naturally in the ecosystem are suited to the coastal lowland gardens of the Gold Coast – particularly those on sandy soils. So if you weren’t at the planting day come and visit the Gardens to get some ideas for planting in your own backyard.
